Title of the presentation: A framework to analyse national policy mixes for sustainable land use transitions
Abstract: Accelerating the implementation of climate change mitigation in the AFOLU (agriculture, forest and other land use) sector, alongside climate change adaptation, biodiversity conservation and food security, requires rapidly putting in place comprehensive and context-specific policy mixes. We propose a framework for assessing national policy packages supporting the transformation of AFOLU. The framework builds on a set of policy functions that were identified through a review of general and case-specific policy literature on AFOLU. To test the framework, including its applicability to different national contexts, the AFOLU policy mixes of five countries including Brazil, Colombia, Ghana Indonesia and Mexico, were analysed using the framework. We expect that this framework can be used to identify gaps in national policy packages for the transformation of AFOLU, and to identify needs for international cooperation and support for the effective implementation of the policies.
